This is a great read for those looking to explore ways of looking at ourselves, our impact on others and our willingness to self-assess. The collection of interviews allows the reader to hear perspectives form many who see themselves, or who the authors see as "meaningfully engaged." While all of the stories may not resonate, certainly there will be a handful, at minimum, who cause you to take a pause for reflection on how we may do our jobs better, more compassionately, or more authentically.Product details

Do No Harm Mindful Engagement for a World in Crisis 9781495187698 Books Reviews
Sometimes a book comes along that is just right for the times. This is it! There could not be a more perfect book or question answered about what we need to do to not harm in a world that is breaking under so much violence and destruction. This is not the kind of book you read and then give to the used book store. Nope. You give yours to anyone nearby and then buy more copies to hand out to everyone you meet and more for your own library just to have it as a resource and as a guide. I love this book! Hail to the authors for bringing it into the world!
In confusing times it is often difficult to find a clear path. Mazur and Wood are confident and gentle guides for individuals who want to follow such a path and participate in efforts to heal the harm that we are doing to each other and the earth. In a beautifully natural manner they integrate philosophical principles, insights from different spiritual traditions, and stories from a varied group of social and environmental activists that illustrate the cultivation of mindful engagement. Do No Harm is a unique and welcome contribution to the literature on social change and how we can mindfully make a difference in the world. How many times have I asked myself this question? How do I work in ways that do not harm? This book, Do No Harm Mindful Engagement for a World in Crisis, has shed a bright light on helping to answer this question and can do so for all of us. But not only that, so many of us are seeking a way to respond to the challenges we're facing today - socially, politically, environmentally. How do we manage? What can we do? How can we be? What's required of us as individuals and as a society to step up and address our personal, professional, and collective global challenges and make change? Beautifully written, well informed new thinking envelops this book. I'm now looking at compassion in action from a totally different lense. The authors have done a remarkable job weaving these 'qualities of mindful engagement' with the narratives of many famous and not so famous people in a way that allows the reader to truly embrace what it means to live in ways that do not harm. This is a MUST READ for us all.
Engaging, thought provoking and pertinent to what ails. A must read for those seriously desiring to alter the way we currently move through life towards a healthier wellbeing for all.
