Terror of the Innocent Adventure Thriller A John Deacon Thriller edition by Mike Boshier Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This book in the John Deacon series by Mike Boshier doesn't contain the physical violent level of others in the series as it is more of a psychological and strategical story rather than armed combat. Saying that, I enjoyed the cat and mouse play of the terrorists against John Deacon and the rest of the world. My only complaint about any of Boshier's books is that I think he goes into too much detail about the territory and operators of those and their hierarchy and how they came into being. This was a little dry for me. But, I will still definitely continue to add Boshier's books to my TBR. This is a voluntary review of an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from Hidden Gems Books.
First half is very dry. Too many details going on and not enough story being told. I did stick through and it gets better in the second half.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily reviewing.
This book was a little difficult to stay interested in, although it provided alot of facts and different interesting scenarios for you to think about, it was a little dry. The book did pick up about halfway through and really keeps your interest. I received a free copy and voluntarily reviewed it.
I'm a fan of Tom Clancy, David Baldacci, and Robert Ludlum. I really enjoyed this book because of the type of plot. The characters seemed real and believable. The storyline was smooth and no glaring holes. It wasnt overloaded with non essential military jargon. It was especially scary as such a thing would be possible to do. I really enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Definitely want to read the author's other books.
This book kept me going right up until the end then I felt like it resolved just a bit to easily, but that will absolutely not sop me from reading more of this author or this series. This author seems to know his "stuff" when it comes to espionage, although I found the repeated use of parenthesis to show or explain what things were a bit much. Also, it is very obvious this author is NOT from the USA. Terminology in the book refers to things like "car park" rather than garage, "layby" for motorcycle parking, and other simple phrases and words that are clearly from Europe or Australia. However, I read many different genres and all styles of authors, so the different phraseology didn't bother me. I noted that in several reviews, other people make mention that it was of a hindrance to them. I can't say that it detracted from the story or plot for me, but I can see where it could be a problem for other people who aren't familiar with different terminology.
Mike Boshier did a good job with writing and telling the characters' actions without making it seem too overbearing or hard to follow. Sometimes, n spy and espionage novels, it gets tough to follow every single action or character because it seems everything has to be explained down to the most minute detail. Boshier did a great job of keeping it simple enough, but still providing enough detail to keep it interesting and plausible (at least to me). I will look for more books in this series and I look forward to reading this author again.
This was an ARC book provided in return for an honest review.
